Daniel Klipa, a senior mathematics major at Westminster College, recently attended the Workshop for New Markets, Institutions, and Economic Strategies held at the University of Arizona.
"I applied for the workshop in November with an application, an essay, and a letter of recommendation," said Klipa. "The Economics Department at Arizona covered almost all expenses for the weekend, including food, hotel, and airfare."
While at the workshop, Klipa had the opportunity to earn cash in simulations and attend eight lectures.
"It was a worthwhile experience because I learned a lot while having fun, and I also got an idea what graduate school might be like. I am hoping to pursue a Ph.D in economics after I graduate."
Klipa is a son of James and Deborah Klipa, 255 Great Smoke Dr., Pittsburgh, and a graduate of Plum High School. He is involved in the Sigma Phi fraternity; Kappa Mu Epsilon, a mathematics honor society; Omicron Kappa Delta, a leadership society; works as a teaching assist at the Learning Center.
