Amanda Fond, a senior chemistry major at Westminster College, recently presented her research at the American Association for the Advancement of Sciences (AAAS) annual meeting.
"Amanda has been working with Dr. Tim Wooster (associate professor and chair of chemistry who is currently on sabbatical) on developing electron transfer sensors for biological systems," said Dr. John Robertson, assistant professor of biology. "The AAAS annual meeting is probably the pre-eminent scientific meeting in the United States, if not the world. It's a terrific opportunity for a student, made possible through out association with the Merck/AAAS Program."
Westminster College is one of only 45 institutions in the nation with undergraduate science research programs sponsored by Merck and the American Association for the Advancement of Science.
Fond is a daughter of Vince and Renee Fond, 7404 Bedford Road, Hubbard, and a graduate of Hubbard High School. At Westminster, Fond is active in: Pi Sigma Pi, an honor society; Omicron Delta Kappa, a national leadership society; Chemistry Club vice president; and Beta Beta Beta, a biology honor society.
