Faculty Forum continues at Westminster College Wednesday, Feb. 26, at 11:30 a.m. in Patterson Hall room 131.
Dorita Bolger, associate professor and librarian, and Dr. Richard Sprow, professor of English, will present "Technology-Based Projects in Performance and/or Promotion and Tenure Decisions in Liberal Arts Colleges."
"We surveyed 45 liberal arts institutions, asking them about their use of technology-based projects as measurements of teaching, scholarship, and service in faculty and librarian reviews," said Sprow. "We gathered data about the kinds of projects developed by teaching faculty and librarians, and asked about various criteria used to assess the quality and value of these projects.
"Our results indicate that technology-based projects are increasingly being valued by colleges for overall professional development of their faculty and librarians, but that much still needs to be done to develop specific criteria for evaluating and counting such activities," concluded Sprow.
Bolger, who has been with Westminster College since1981, earned her undergraduate degree from Pennsylvania State University, and her master's from Clarion University.
Sprow, who has been with Westminster College since 1976, earned his undergraduate degree from St. Lawrence University, and his master's and Ph.D. from Purdue University.
The event is free and open to the public. For more information, contact Bolger at (724) 946-7325 or e-mail dbolger@westminster.edu or Sprow at (724) 946-7346 or e-mail rsprow@westminster.edu.
