The Westminster College Office of Church Relations will host Dr. John Burgess, former associate professor at the Pittsburgh Theological Seminary, Tuesday, Sept. 26 from 8:30 a.m.-4 p.m. to begin the first of a series of Continuing Education Events at Russell Hall.
Burgess, an ordained minister, will speak on "The Theology and Ethics of the Ten Commandments for the Church Today." In this class he will approach the Ten Commandments as grace-filled laws that can help churches solve debates revolving around tolerance, boundaries, and standards.
Burgess is especially committed to theological work in service of the church and regularly preaches and teaches in congregations and presbyteries. He has written several books, including Why Scripture Matters: Reading the Bible in a Time of Church Conflict.
