Westminster College Awards Alumni Citations

Westminster College awarded three Distinguished Alumni Citations during the recent Homecoming celebration.

Each year alumni are chosen on the basis of significant accomplishments in his or her profession, or made meaningful contributions to their community or Westminster College. This year's recipients are Dr. Kim Dunbar '80, Dr. Thomas R. Kepple '70, and the Rev. William M. Meyer '59.

Dunbar is a professor of chemistry at Texas A&M university, and is known as a person who places teaching above personal research, which she attributed to her years at Westminster College. She has published more than 115 articles in chemical journals, and lectured across the United States and internationally.

Kepple is the president of Juniata College. He has written and spoken on a variety of topics including prepaid tuition, community development, value-based management systems, campus planning, energy conservation, personnel administration, and incentive early retirement programs. He has overseen $75 million in construction and renovation to the Juniata College campus.

Meyer is the pastor at the Church of the Covenant, Presbyterian Church U.S.A.. He has energized the congregations he has served, receiving over 1,830 new members. In addition to serving as the moderator and Council chair of Beaver-Butler, South Dakota, and Washington presbyteries, he has traveled extensively as a leader on mission visitation and work projects.
