The Westminster College Mortar Board is sponsoring a book drive for the "Reading is Leading" project through Nov. 1. Two collection boxes, outside of the Preschool Lab in Hoyt Science Resources Center and in the Chapel Office on the third floor of Old Main, are available on campus.

The purpose of the "Reading is Leading" project is to promote the awareness of literacy and how important it is for children and adults to learn to read. The books collected will be donated to the Woman's Shelter-Rape Crisis Center in New Castle.

"Mortar Board is looking for new and or used books of any type for any age group," said Michael O'Donovan, a senior psychology major from Pittsburgh and president of Mortar Board. "The collection is open to anyone willing to donate - faculty, staff, students, New Wilmington residents or people from Pittsburgh or California. We just want books, and lots of them."

Mortar Board recognizes senior students with leadership, scholarship, and service skills. Membership prerequisites include a grade requirement and previous college leadership experience.
