The Westminster College Cable 9 Television broadcast of the high school football game between Neshannock and Monaca this Friday, Oct. 13, will be carried live as the "PCN Game of the Week" on the Pennsylvania Cable Network (PCN).

The broadcast will be carried live beginning at 7 p.m. from Neshannock High School in New Castle, with a replay the following evening at 11 p.m. PCN is available in more than 2.6 million homes in Pennsylvania, reaching nine million of the twelve million state residents. Locally, the game will be broadcast live on Channel 9 on New Wilmington Borough cable and on Channel 10 on Adelphia Cable throughout New Castle and Lawrence County.

"We are very pleased to provide our broadcast communication students the opportunity to broadcast a high school game live on the Pennsylvania Cable Network," said Dr. David Barner, associate professor and chair of the communication studies, theatre and art department at Westminster. "Because our Cable 9 football broadcasts are completely student-run, this is also a great opportunity for Westminster to highlight for viewers all across the state the strengths of our broadcast communications major."

The game will feature a live audio feed courtesy of WBZY Radio (AM 1280), a Clear Channel Radio station in New Castle, with Barner calling the play-by-play and Todd Lape as color commentator.

Three guests will be featured at halftime of the broadcast:

· Lawrence County District Attorney Matt Mangino, a 1985 Westminster graduate, who will discuss a new cable-sponsored crime prevention program in the county.

· Westminster Sports Information Director Joe Onderko, who will discuss how the relationship between the College and Adelphia Cable has expanded the school's sports promotion capabilities.

Current Westminster senior Jeanie Insana (Washington, Pa.), the student director of the broadcast, who will talk about the educational value of directing a live event on the Pennsylvania Cable Network.
