Posted on Wednesday, October 11, 2000

Dr. Andrea K. Grove, assistant professor of political science at Westminster College, will give the first in a series of "last lectures" Tuesday, Oct. 17, at 4 p.m. in Walton-Mayne Union Lounge.

During this academic year, several of the Westminster College professors are asked to give a lecture on their Apassion@ as if it were the last lecture they were ever to give. Grove's lecture, "The Role of Students in a Global Era" will focus on the question "Why should I care about international politics?"

Grove, who joined Westminster College this year, teaches courses on foreign policy, international relations, and comparative politics. Her research interests include the politics of leadership in Northern Ireland and Rhodesia/Zimbabwe, ethno-nationalism, foreign policy decision making, and political psychology.

Her dissertation, "Leadership and Nationalist Mobilization: Investigating the Linkage Between Strategies and Context," received the Jepson Prize for Leadership Studies from the Jepson School of Leadership Studies at the University of Richmond.

Grove earned her undergraduate degree from the University of Georgia, her master's from Lancaster University, and her Ph.D. from the Ohio State University.

The program is free and open to the public. For more information, contact Grove at (724) 946-7254.
