Three Westminster College students will perform the on-stage, one act-opera, The Telephone, Saturday, Feb. 24 at 7:30 p.m. in Orr Auditorium.

Gian-Carlo Menotti's opera centers around Ben, who wants to propose to his girlfriend, Lucy, but is constantly interrupted by her telephone. Since he has to catch a train for an important business meeting, he leaves Lucy's apartment. Later he calls her from his cell phone and succeeds in proposing to Lucy.

The performance features Donna Macurdy, a music education major and daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Glenn Macurdy, 214 Hannashtown Rd., Cabot, as Lucy; Jeff Lagios, a music education major and son of Mr. and Mrs. Nicholas Lagios, 113 Gettysburg Dr., Aliquippa, as Ben; and Stan Rothrock II, a music education major and son of Mr. and Mrs. Stanley Rothrock, 203 Forest Hill Rd., Yeagertown, as accompanist.

The workshop is directed by Donald J. Rasely from the Westminster College Department of Music. Rasely resides in Butler.
