Westminster College Choirs will present their fall concert, "Light Eternal," at 2 p.m. Sunday, Nov. 1, in the Wallace Memorial Chapel on Westminster's campus.
Under the direction of Dr. Ryan Keeling, associate professor of music and director of choral activities, the 54 vocalists will feature Gabriel Faure's "Requiem" and "Cantique de Jean Racine,” accompanied by professional musicians.
“In commemoration of All Saints weekend, the Westminster Choirs and a professional orchestra will be performing Gabriel Faure’s Requiem, one of the great masterworks of Western choral music,” said Keeling. “Unlike many other requiems, such as those by Mozart and Verdi, which focus more on the judgment and wrath portions of the liturgy, Faure’s setting emphasizes prayers for eternal light and peace, both for those who have gone on before and those of us who are left in mourning.”
Faculty members Hunter Peterson and Jeff Wachter will accompany the orchestra with organ and harp performances.
This event is free and open to the public.
