Four Westminster College Students Present Research Projects at Conference

Four Westminster College speech communication majors presented their senior capstone research projects at the Eastern Communication Conference in Portland, Maine.

"This was a great opportunity for our students to network with communication scholars and graduate students," said Dr. Cary Horvath, assistant professor of communication studies. "So many people expressed to me how impressed they were with our students' work. They thought their posters looked professional and demonstrated how much work they put into their capstone projects."

Washington, PA:
Patrick Wik
is a son of Mr. & Mrs. Mark Wik, 1008 Balsam Drive. Wik, a speech communications major, is a graduate of Trinity High School. His project is titled "Differences in Writing and Speaking Apprehension in Public Relations and Non-Public Relations Majors."

West Leechburg, PA:
Tara Pomatto
is a daughter of Mr. & Mrs. James Pomatto, 1524 North Ave. Pomatto, a speech communications major, is a graduate of Leechburg Area High School. She received fourth place for her poster, "Clique Formation in Middle and High School."

Scottsdale, PA:
Allison Sanders
is a daughter of Mr. & Mrs. Robert Sanders. Sanders, a broadcast communications and speech communications major, is a graduate of Southmoreland High School. Her project is titled "Children's Recollections of Television Commercials."

Prospect, PA:
Jacque Duncan
is a daughter of Mr. & Mrs. George Duncan, 195 Orchard Drive. Duncan, a speech communications major, is a graduate of Slippery Rock Area High School. Her project is titled "Gender Stereotypes in Televisions Commercials Shown During College Basketball Games."
