Westminster College Symphonic Band presents winter concert

The Westminster College Symphonic Band will present its winter concert, “Monuments,” at 3 p.m. Sunday, March 1, in the Will W. Orr Auditorium on Westminster’s campus.

Under the direction of Dr. Aaron D. Himes, the program will feature a dynamic and diverse selection of works including “Rocketship” by Kevin Day, “Resplendent Light (On Walden Pond)” by Tyler S. Grant, “Of Sailors and Whales” by Francis McBeth, “Meditation” by Dwayne Milburn and “Liberty Bell March” by John Philip Sousa.

The Symphonic Band is composed of both music majors and non-majors, representing a variety of academic disciplines across campus.

Himes, director of bands, coordinator of music education and assistant professor of music, joined the Westminster faculty in 2024. He holds an undergraduate degree in music education from Susquehanna University, a master’s in music performance from the University of North Texas and a Ph.D. in music education from Northwestern University.

The concert is free and open to the public.
