Westminster College invites local community members to participate in Foundations of Leadership, a seven-week workshop series that brings together Westminster students and community participants for shared learning, dialogue and leadership development.
Offered as part of the College’s commitment to engaged learning, the program emphasizes meaningful interaction between students and community members and is guided by Simon Sinek’s book “Leaders Eat Last.”
Participants will engage in interactive, workshop-style sessions focused on leadership, communication, ethical decision-making and building trust-based environments.
The series begins Tuesday, Jan. 13, and will meet each Tuesday from 6:30 to 8 p.m. at the McGill Memorial Library on Westminster’s campus. The final session will be held Thursday, Feb. 24.
Community participants play a central role in the program by sharing lived experiences, perspectives and insights that help students connect leadership theory to real-world practice.
“The Community Collaborative is a unique format that fosters an exchange of ideas between students and community members,” said Dr. Helen Boylan, faculty fellow for community engagement and facilitator of the program. “With a focus on leadership, participating community members will help mentor and inspire the next generation of leaders.”
The Community Collaborative program is sponsored by Westminster College’s Office of Professional Development and Community Engagement at Westminster College and is open to all community members for an administrative fee of $25, which may be waived for those with financial need.
