This fall, the Westminster College School of Education continued its tradition of community engagement and service by bringing holiday cheer to local elementary students through its annual Stocking Stuffer initiative.

The School of Education purchased 40 new Christmas stockings and distributed them to education majors, who volunteered to take part in the project. Over Thanksgiving break, participating students took the stockings home and filled them with toys, books, games, crafts, puzzles and other child-friendly to make the holiday season brighter for a young learner.

The filled stockings were delivered to Luther Low Elementary School in the West Middlesex Area School District, where they will be distributed to students in kindergarten through fourth grade.

The Stocking Stuffer program invites Westminster Titans to help make the holiday season brighter for local children while reinforcing the School of Education’s commitment to service-learning and community partnerships. Last year, the School of Education donated approximately 40 stockings to New Wilmington Elementary School.

The initiative was originally launched in 2024 by School of Education faculty member Kristen Czubiak and continued this year with the support of colleague Cynthia Clarke. The stockings were delivered to Luther Low Elementary School Principal Dr. Tammy Mild with assistance from first-year Westminster student Kadence Leonard of West Middlesex, Pa.

Through programs like such as the Stocking Stuffer initiative, the Westminster College School of Education provides its students with meaningful opportunities to support local communities while modeling generosity, compassion and the spirit of giving—values central to the teaching profession.
