Westminster College’s Titan Film Festival invites community members to show off their storytelling skills through a mini movie-making competition. Filmmakers of all ages and skill levels are encouraged to submit their spooky movies by Sunday, Oct. 19.

Filmmakers must incorporate specific elements to be eligible.

Films must:

  • Be five minutes or less (not including credits)
  • Include cooked or uncooked pasta as a prop. Pasta may be used as a scene element in the background or part of the narrative.
  • Fit within the genres of supernatural, aliens, eco-thriller, monsters and zombies, cloak-and-dagger or science fiction
  • Must be family-friendly and appropriate for all ages
  • Be submitted via YouTube or a similar platform

Judging is based on creativity, technical merit, use of the pasta prop and the movie's ability to fit within the genre.

Winners will be announced during a showcase event at 3 p.m., Sunday, Oct. 26, in Mueller Theater of McKelvey Campus Center on Westminster’s campus. The showcase will present several awards including the fan favorite determined by audience vote.

The Titan Film Festival is sponsored by the student newspaper The Holcad, Titan Radio, Westminster Cable, wcn247.com, Westminster’s School of Communication and Westminster’s Beyond the Quad Art Series, which encourages relationships and activities between students and the local community.
