Posted on Tuesday, October 2, 2001

Dr. James A. Cummins, professor of Spanish at Westminster College, will present "Spain Prepares for the Twenty-First Century: Progress Since 1975" during the Faculty Forum, Wednesday, Oct. 10, at 11:45 a.m. in 311 Patterson Hall.

Cummins will focus on the changes in Spain from the death of Franco in November 1975, its ascension to a monarchy and subsequent democracy.

Cummins has visited Spain in 1958, 1976, 1988, 1994, and June 2001, when he attended a faculty development seminar. His presentation includes personal slides taken on these trips, which details the changes in Spain since his first visit when Franco was still dictator.

Cummins, who has been with Westminster College since 1963, earned his undergraduate degree from Juniata College, his master's from Middlebury College, and his Ph.D. from the University of Michigan.
