A first-year Westminster College student earned a first-place finish in the “New Wilmington’s Got Talent” competition held Aug. 25.

Morgan Litz, a music education major from Wexford, Pa., beat out 11 other contestants for the top prize for her rendition of “Pulled” from “The Addams Family” musical.

Modeled after the hit TV show “America’s Got Talent,” performances were evaluated by local celebrity judges including Sherie Babb, mayor of New Wilmington; Dr. Timothy Winfield, associate professor and chair of the School of Music at Westminster College; Allison McClymonds Ciavarino, a 2002 Westminster alumna and principal of the Wilmington Area Elementary School; and Todd Cole, a 1983 Westminster graduate and president of the New Wilmington Rotary Club.

The event was held in the New Wilmington Borough Park Amphitheater and featured a variety of performance types and age groups. Winners received cash prizes thanks to the donations from supporters of New Wilmington Arts in the Park.

“New Wilmington’s Got Talent” is sponsored by the (EDCOM) The Live New Wilmington Amphitheater Committee and organized by the Youth Unplugged Committee of local teens. The group is planning another summer Youth Unplugged concert series and talent competition for next year.
