Westminster College Students Wins Award in Organists' Competition

Jennifer Braden, a sophomore music education major at Westminster College, recently placed second in the American Guild of Organist's Young Organists' Competition in Wheeling, W.Va.

Braden performed Jean Langlais' Chant de Paix, Dietrich Buxtehud's Passacaglia in d, and an introduction with two verses to the hymn tune Aurelia.

Since the fall of 2000, Braden has studied organ with Elizabeth Harrison, assistant professor of music and college organist at Westminster. In addition to her duties as an assistant organist at St. Mark's Lutheran Church in Wheeling, Braden plays the clarinet in the band and the wind ensemble at Westminster.

Braden is a daughter of Mr. and Mrs. James Braden, 25 Austin Ave., Wheeling, W.Va., and a graduate of Wheeling Park High School.
