Six Westminster College students performed in the annual Intercollegiate Choral Festival held at Bloomsburg University Oct. 27.

Directed by guest conductor Dr. Charles Bruffy, artistic director and conductor of the Kansas City Chorale and the Phoenix Bach Choir, the 100-member choir spent three days of rehearsing for the concert.

"Kara Stivason was one of the students selected to sing in the small ensemble for Mozart's Regina Coeli,'" said Dr. Robin Lind, assistant professor of music and director of choral activities at Westminster College. "Keri Conger gave us all a surprise when she was seen twirling a baton in front of the choir in the last song, Circus Band.'"

Other music performed for the choral concert included two songs by Johannes Brames, Alice Parker's "Johnny, I Hardly Knew Ye," two Chinese folksongs by Chen Yi, Peter Bagley's "Live a Humble," and Rene Clausen's "O My Luve's Like a Red, Red Rose."

"The students thoroughly enjoyed the experience," said Lind. "Westminster has volunteered to host the festival in the fall of 2003. This festival always brings in nationally renowned choral director conductors who inspire the students to new and exciting levels of performance."
