ECC is a consortium of nine private liberal arts colleges that was established in 1968, and is governed by the Board of Trustees consisting of the presidents of the nine member institutions. The primary focus for the consortium is academic collaboration and faculty development. In addition, ECC provides opportunities for various administrative groups to meet and provides support for student-oriented activities such as the International Student Retreat/Workshop, Student Literary Competition, Student Mathematics Competition, Study-Abroad Exchange Program, and Life-Learning Assessment.

Bethany, Heidelberg, Hiram, Marietta, Mount Union, Muskingum, Otterbein, West Virginia Wesleyan, and Westminster make up the nine members of ECC.
