Westminster College Orchestra to Perform Concert

The Westminster College Orchestra will perform its first concert of the year Sunday, Nov. 11, at 3 p.m. at Orr Auditorium.

Under the direction of Dr. Paul Chenevey, the concert begins with "The National Anthem," and is followed by several selections composed by Felix Mendelssohn, Pietro Mascagni, and W.A. Mozart. Dr. Anne Hagen Bentz, assistant professor of music at Westminster College, will perform a soprano solo in "Andante - Alegro."

The second half of the concert features Russian folksongs by Anatol Liadov such as "Religious Chant," "Christmas Carol," "Humorous Song," "Legend of the Birds," "Cradle Song," "Round Dance," and "Village Dance Song." The orchestra will conclude the concert with an audience sing along to Irving Berlin's "God Bless America."
