Westminster College is a friendly, family-oriented college. This was evident on August 23 at the annual All-Campus Picnic for faculty, staff AND families. Retired employees and their families were invited too. This happened in Anderson Amphitheater on a clear evening by Brittain Lake. It was a delightful and fun-filled evening with music, camaraderie, games for children, introduction of new employees . . . and food. Food brings people together for picnics, especially this time of the year. That is good.
Westminster College will host the 2007 Conference on Worship and Music, sponsored by the Presbyterian Association of Musicians, July 8-13. This year's event, "Celebrating the Risen Christ: Living the Font and Table," marks the 20th year of a nationally recognized conference for clergy, organists, choir directors, singers and handbell ringers of all ages.
Westminster College's Celebrity Series will welcome the Lowe Family Saturday, March 15, for an 8 p.m. concert in Orr Auditorium.
Dr. Mandy Medvin, Westminster College professor of psychology and director of Westminster's Preschool Lab, will speak on "Models of Social Exclusion and Aggression: Implications for Developmental Research" at Faires Faculty Forum Wednesday, Nov. 12, at 11:40 a.m. in the Sebastian Mueller Theater in the McKelvey Campus Center.
Westminster College will welcome the class of 2013 with the traditional Opening Convocation Friday, Aug. 28, at 1:30 p.m. in Orr Auditorium.
Westminster College's Alpha Psi Omega theatre honor society will present its One-Act Festival Friday, April 9, with shows at 7 p.m. and 10 p.m. in the Berlin Lounge of the McKelvey Campus Center. The festival is open to the public.
Westminster College's Office of Diversity Services and Peace Studies Program will host the sixth annual International Celebration Wednesday, Dec. 8, from 5-7:30 p.m. in the Berlin Student Lounge and Club Room of the McKelvey Campus Center.
Westminster College senior molecular biology major Katie Sinagoga received an undergraduate research grant from Westminster's Drinko Center for Excellence in Teaching and Learning.
Westminster College senior computer science major Timothy Matyas and Dr. David Shaffer, associate professor of computer science, participated in the Trinity College Fire-Fighting Home Robot contest March 31-April 1 in Hartford, Conn.
NEW WILMINGTON, Pa. - The Department of Music Concert Series opens Friday, Feb. 8, with a concert featuring the Jazz Ensemble and Faculty Jazz Quartet in the Berlin Lounge of the McKelvey Student Center. The program is free to the public. Both of these outstanding ensembles will present a program ranging from classic Jazz through the latest styles.
