WHEELING, W.Va. - The Westminster men's golf team finished in ninth place out of 37 teams at the four-day NCAA Division III Championship Tournament on Friday.
 
Westminster fired a team score of 288 (+4) in the final round today on the par-71, 6,857-yard Speidel Jones Course at Oglebay Resort and were one shot of tying the school-record it set just two days prior. The Titans finished the week with a four-day score of 1,196 strokes (+64). Westminster's ninth-place finish is the best finish ever by a PAC team at Division III's premier event and the Titans were the only unranked team (according to Golfstat.com) in the field to make the cut.
 
Westminster was led in the final round by sophomore Calen Cummins (Allison Park, PA / Hampton) who fired a career-low, two-under par round of 69, tying the lowest round of the day in the field. Cummins' record day was highlighted by three birdies and just one bogey, including a birdie on the par-3 fourth hole. Cummins dominated the par 3's all week, finishing three under total on them, the best mark in the entire field by four shots. Overall, Cummins finished in 26th place in the 191-player field at 15-over par over four days, the best individual finisher at the NCAA Tournament in program history.
 
Following Cummins on day four were graduate transfer Brendan Shaughnessy (Canonsburg, PA / Bishop Canevin), senior Jonny Stuckert (Pittsburgh, PA / North Hills) and sophomore Sam Napper (Mt Pleasant, PA / Mt Pleasant) who each carded a 73 (+2). Both Shaughnessy and Stuckert recorded one birdie on the day, as Shaughnessy birdied the par-5 14th hole while Stuckert recorded a red number on the par-4 second. Shaughnessy finished at +18 for the week, tying for 34th place, while Stuckert's four-day total of +19 tied for 40th place. Napper had his best day of the week, as his career-low round was highlighted by a team-high four birdies, including three on his first nine (Westminster started on hole 10). Napper finished in 89th place with a four-day score of +31. Junior Michael Bell (Canonsburg, PA / Peters Township) rounded out the day for Westminster, coming into the clubhouse with a 77 (+6). Bell was the second-best Titan finisher on the week, tying for 29th place with a four-day mark of +16.
 
Westminster, led by eighth-year Head Coach Matt Torrence, won every tournament in the regular season, including the program's first PAC Title in 16 years. Westminster appeared in the NCAA Tournament for the second time in school history, making the cut and finishing inside the top-10 at National's for the first time ever.

MORGANTOWN W.Va. – The Westminster College women's track and field team won their first Presidents' Athletic Conference (PAC) Outdoor Championship since 2012 at Mylan Park in Morgantown, West Virginia on Friday, while the men finished third. 
 
The Titan women won the team title with 190 points and the men totaled 128 points.
 
The women started the day with a victory in the 4x100-meter relay, as seniors Maura Belding(Columbiana, OH / Crestview) and Selena Thomas (Farrell, PA / Farrell Area), junior Haley Moore(Greensburg, PA / Greensburg Central Catholic) and first-year Jessica Fatigati (McDonald, PA / West Allegheny) formed the winning quartet with a time of 50.90. Thomas went on to earn Overall Most Outstanding Performer honors after scoring a total of 26.50 points for the Titans, winning the long jump title with a jump of 5.21 meters, taking second in the 200-meter dash and crossing the line in third in the 100 meters. Fatigati also led Westminster on the track, scoring 25 points by winning the 100-meter dash with a time of 12.62 and running a personal-best 26.69 in the 200 meters. For her efforts, Fatigati earned Most Outstanding Track Performer honors and was named PAC Newcomer of the Year. Senior Erin Ward (Euclid, OH / Lake Catholic) locked down the mid-distance events, collecting victories in the 1500-meter run with a time of 4:52.80 and the 800 meters with a time of 2:18.64. Moore ran personal-best times in both hurdle events, taking second in the 400-meter hurdles (67.44) and finishing fourth in the 100-meter hurdles (16.94). Senior Katie Schrantz (New Castle, PA / Neshannock) followed up her day one 10,000 meters victory with a second-place finish in the 5,000 meters, crossing the line in 18:18.39. Belding and senior Allison Hampton (Ten Sleep, WY / Ten Sleep) earned fourth-place finishes for the Titans with Belding running the 400-meter dash in 1:04.18 and Hampton running a personal-best time of 12:11.60 in the 3,000-meter steeplechase. The 4x400-meter relay squad of Moore, Fatigati, Belding and Ward wrapped up the track events with another win after running a season-best 4:11.73.
 
For the women's field events, senior Megan Parker (Mercer, PA / Mercer Area) earned Most Outstanding Field Performer honors after a huge PAC-record throw of 13.45 meters, which is also a new school record. First-year Saige Heigel (Kersey, PA / Saint Marys Area) finished right behind her with a throw of 10.77 meters. In the javelin, senior Erynn Daubenmire (Mentor, OH / Willoughby South) earned a second-place finish with her throw of 32.77 meters.
 
On the men's side, the Titan 4x100-meter relay got things off to a good start, as senior Dalton Anderson (Butler, PA / Moniteau), juniors Jacob Patton (Harrisville, PA / Moniteau) and Amon Sams(Chantilly, VA / John Champe) and sophomore Ryan Beard (Murrysville, PA / Franklin Regional) teamed up to win with a time of 43.20. Sams went on to score a total of 22.50 points for Westminster after he dominated the 100-meter dash with a personal-best time of 10.67 and snagged the 200-meter title with a time of 22.32. Beard placed third in both the 100 meters (11.16 / personal best) and 200 meters (22.69). Anderson earned Overall Most Outstanding Performer honors after scoring 30.50 points. His personal-best 61.07-meter javelin throw placed him first in the field by over three meters, and he also earned a second-place finish in the 110-meter hurdles with a time of 15.98, just one millisecond off Thiel's Malik Beckford who won the event. Patton scored a team-high 31 points for the Titans and was named PAC Newcomer of the Year after impressive finishes in the 110-meter hurdles (16.18 / third place) and 400-meter hurdles (58.94 / second place). He also took third in the pole vault to complete the Westminster sweep in the event behind first-place junior Jonathan Micsky (Greenville, PA / Greenville) and second-place first-year Joseph Kurelowech (Erie, PA / McDowell). Micsky earned his first PAC Championship Title after clearing 3.60 meters. The 4x400-meter relay team of junior Jacob Musselman (Denver, PA / Cocalico), Anderson, Patton, and Beard ran a season-best 3:35.97 to close out the meet with a third-place finish.
 
The women's pole vault competition was postponed due to safety concerns and will take place Saturday, May 1 in Grove City.

Westminster College’s spring 2021 commencement will recognize the leadership of alumna Anna Richards, past president of the Chapel Hill-Carrboro (N.C.) branch of the NAACP, with an honorary Doctor of Humane Letters degree at the College’s 167th commencement ceremony on Saturday, May 8.
 
Richards, a 1972 alumna originally from Farrell, Pa., recently completed two two-year terms as Chapel Hill-Carrboro NAACP president, during which she led her branch through a period of reorganization and engagement.
