The Westminster College Wind Ensemble and Symphonic Band will present their joint spring concert “Bookmarks” at 7:30 p.m. Wednesday, March 9, at Orr Auditorium on Westminster’s campus. The concert is free and open to the public.

The Wind Ensemble, under the director of Dr. R. Tad Greig, professor of music and director of bands, will perform an array of diverse music including movements from Julie Giroux’s “Symphony #4, Bookmarks from Japan.”  Dr. James Flowers, a saxophone instructor in the School of Music, will be featured in “Diversion” by Bernhard Heiden.

The Symphonic Band, also directed by Greig, will perform fantasias and fanfares based upon two well-known hymns, “Lead On, O King Eternal” and “Lo, How a Rose e’re Blooming.” Perry Gatch, a percussion instructor in the School of Music, will serve as a guest conductor for the selection “Poem” by Scott Boerma.

The Westminster College Wind Ensemble is student ensemble that performs a wide variety of the most challenging established and new works. The Symphonic Band performs an eclectic mix of new and classic symphonic band repertoire.

Masks are required to attend the concert in-person. The concert will also be livestreamed on the Westminster College Bands’ YouTube channel at https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=kkluRijSmQY
