Admissions Staff to Visit Local High Schools
Westminster College admissions staff will be visiting local high schools Oct. 23-31.
Westminster Music Education Major to Give Senior Lecture
Daphne Cortes, a senior music education major from Nazareth, will give her senior lecture recital Saturday, Oct. 9, at 2 p.m. in Phillips Lecture Hall located in the Hoyt Science Resources Center.
"The topic of this presentation is a comparative analysis of the gigues from Johann Sebastian Bach's unaccompanied violoncello suites," Cortes said.
Cortes is a daughter of Carlos and Candida Cortes, and a graduate of Nazareth Area High School. She performs in the Westminster College Orchestra, String Chamber Ensemble, Bell Choir, and Marching band as a clarinetist. She participates in the Pennsylvania Collegiate Music Educators Association, Lambda Sigma, Sigma Delta Pi, Kappa Delta Pi, Pi Sigma Pi, Newman Club, and the Scrawl.

Anti-Iraq War Speaker Coming to Westminster College May 2
Stan Goff, a leading voice in the anti-Iraq war movement, will speak at Westminster College Monday, May 2, at 7 p.m. in the Witherspoon Room located in the McKelvey Campus Center.
"While he will give voice to the anti-war position, we hope that this event will be an open discussion of multiple perspectives," said Dr. Andrea Grove, assistant professor of political science at Westminster College.
Goff is a former Army Special Operations soldier, whose military career includes serving in Vietnam, Grenada, and Haiti. He also was part of the military training mission in Colombia and Peru, and classified missions in El Salvador and Guatemala. He was deployed in Mogadishu with the Task Force Ranger, which was made famous by "Black Hawk Down."
He is a member of the coordinating committee of Bring Them Home Now, a campaign of military families, veterans, active duty personnel, and reservists against the war in Iraq. He is also a member of Military Families Speak Out, an organization of people who are opposed to the war in Iraq and who have relatives or loved ones in the military.
In addition to teaching military science at West Point, he is also an author of several works including: "Full Spectrum Disorder: The Military in the New American Century" and "Hideous Dream: A Soldier's Memoir of the U.S. Invasion of Haiti."

Springfield Restaurant Group Gold Sponsor of New Wilmington Area Business Expo
The Springfield Restaurant Group is the Gold Sponsor for the New Wilmington Area Business Expo scheduled Saturday, March 18, from 10 a.m.-4 p.m. in the Westminster College Field House.
The fourth annual New Wilmington Area Business Expo also features Silver Sponsors: The First National Bank and Sky Bank. Westminster College is a "Good Neighbor" sponsor.
Nearly 100 businesses have signed up to participate in the event. Businesses wishing to participate should contact co-chair Anne Bruening at (724) 946-3300 for more information. A registration fee is required in addition to providing a door prize. Each participating business will be given space to display their products. New Wilmington Area Chamber members receive a discount off the registration fee.
"We hope that local businesses will take advantage of this great opportunity and participate," said event co-chair Betty Jones. "This type of event is a great way to introduce yourself and your business to potential customers and other businesses. We are excited about the quality of the door prizes that will be given away, and expect this year's Business Expo to showcase some of the great things available in our community."
Jones added that "home-based" businesses and food vendors are welcome to participate.
The event is organized by the New Wilmington Area Chamber of Commerce and is intended to produce local businesses with one-on-one contacts and marketing opportunities. Patrons of the event will have the opportunity to win one of many valuable door prizes being donated by participating businesses. Admission to the event is free.
Patrons can stop at the Kiwanis Pancake Breakfast between 7:30 a.m. and 1:30 p.m. in Westminster'sGalbreath Dining Room and have breakfast before or after attending the Business Expo. Tickets are available at the door.
Theatre Westminster Announces First Production
"The Laramie Project," the first production of the 2003-2004 of Theatre Westminster season, is scheduled Thursday-Sunday, Nov. 13-16. Saturday and Sunday feature matinees at 2:30 p.m., while Thursday-Saturday shows are at 7:30 p.m.
Westminster College Student to Present Senior Voice Recital
Nora Drake, a music performance major at Westminster College, will present her senior voice recital Sunday, March 4, at 3 p.m. in Wallace Memorial Chapel.

Dr. Bryan Rennie, associate professor of religion and philosophy at Westminster College, will present Faculty Forum Wednesday, Oct. 2, at 11:30 p.m. in Patterson Hall room 311.

Concert Choir Plans Winter Tour
