Biology Major Received Drinko Grant to Present Honors Research
Michelle Johnston, a Westminster College senior biology major, received a travel/presentation grant from Westminster's Drinko Center for Excellence in Teaching and Learning to present her honors research at the 30th annual Undergraduate Biology Symposium for Western Pennsylvania April 18 at Waynesburg University.
Language Professor to Share International Seminar Experience at Faculty Forum
Dr. Ann Murphy, Westminster College associate professor of French and Spanish, will share information about the Center for International Educational Exchange (CIEE) faculty development seminar at Faires Faculty Forum Wednesday, March 31, at 11:40 a.m. in the Sebastian Mueller Theater of the McKelvey Campus Center.
Band Director to be Guest Conductor for Honors Band
Dr. R. Tad Greig, Westminster College associate professor and director of bands, will be the guest conductor for the Beaver County High School Honors Band Nov. 17-18.
College to Host "Daughters of Cambodia"
Westminster College will host "Daughters of Cambodia" Tuesday, Sept. 13, at 8 p.m. in the Berlin Lounge of the McKelvey Campus Center. The program is free and open to the public.
Faculty to Host Detective Workshop for Middle School Girls
Westminster College faculty Dr. Deborah Mitchell, Dr. Helen Boylan, and Dr. Betsy Ford will conduct Empowering Detective Girls Everywhere (EDGE), a workshop for middle school girls, Friday, April 27, from 4-7 p.m. in the McKelvey Campus Center's Berlin Student Lounge.
Westminster College Associate Professors Published in Psychology of Women Quarterly

NEW WILMINGTON, Pa. - The Westminster College Department of Economics and Business hosted informational panels and networking opportunities on campus in September.
Westminster Artifacts on Loan to Harsco Science Center
Fourteen Westminster College artifacts are on loan as part of the "Cataclysm Mysteries of the Dead Sea" exhibition at the Harsco Science Center, part of the Whitaker Center for Science and the Arts in Harrisburg through January 2005.
Many of the items on loan are from the Kim McGill and Anne McGill collections. A 19th century North African Berber brass gunpowder flask, two wooden Egyptian shepherd's flutes, a Cleopatra coin, and Ptolemy IV coin were among the Ann McGill collection.
An ancient Babylon brick, a matched pair of matchlock rifles from the Yemeni clan of Bin Laden, Myrrh, Frankincense, and an Egyptian vial, cosmetic applicator, and grinding stone, are from the Kim McGill collection.
Seleucus II and Aurelian coins from the J.C. Boyd collection, and Igal and Tagiya, articles of Bodouin and Arab headdress, from the Jon McGill collection are also on display.
This exhibit investigates the natural and cultural mysteries of the lowest point on dry land. For more information, visit the website www.whitakercenter.org.

Westminster College Psychology Major Receives Scholarship
Tamara Scherer, a freshman psychology major at Westminster College, recently received the Oliver L. Johnson and William A. Lester Families Fund and the Eugene and Neil Petrucci Fund No. 2.
This $7,500 scholarship, funded by The Pittsburgh Foundation, was applied to her tuition for the 2005-2006 academic year.
"We are grateful to the Oliver L. Johnson and William A. Lester Families Fund and the Eugene and Neil Petrucci Fund No. 2 and The Pittsburgh Foundation for their support of bright, motivated students like Ms. Scherer, who represent the future of our region," said Gloria Cagigas, vice president for institutional advancement at Westminster.
In 2003, The Pittsburgh Foundation, the 15th largest community foundation in the nation, awarded more than $24 million in grants to charitable organizations. Established in 1945, The Pittsburgh Foundation is comprised of more than 960 funds established by organizations and individual donors. These funds range from $10,000 to more than $32 million, and have a combined market value of approximately $537 million.
Scherer is a daughter of Lisa Koller, Washington, and a graduate of Washington High School.
