Fourteen Westminster College students will have the opportunity to interview radio personalities from local morning shows.

"I want students to hear when and how long radio personalities talk on morning shows," said Dr. David Barner, associate professor of broadcast communications. "On morning shows, teams with different personalities dominate the field. In the morning people are ready to listen to information, but after work they just want to listen to music and relax."

" I am going to tape the shows of three different formats, play them in class, and then let the students ask questions," continued Barner. " I originally planned to use speaker phones for all three stations, but WHOT offered to come to class."

AC and Kelly from contemporary hit radio HOT 101-FM will visit the campus of Westminster College and answer questions at 10:45 a.m. Wednesday, Sept. 27.

Bob Popa and Carol King of oldies station 106.1-FM will answer questions Friday, Sept. 22, and Johnny Walker and Caroline Ross of country music station 95 Cat Country will speak to the class Monday, Sept. 25. These interviews will be conducted via a speaker phone.

All students are members of the Broadcast Communications class 302, Radio/TV Announcing.

Barner, who has been with Westminster College since 1981, is also the chair of the Department of Communication Studies. He earned his undergraduate and master's degrees from Shippensburg University, and his Ed.D. from the University of Pittsburgh.
