Eight senior art majors will display their work at the Westminster College Senior Art Show, Wednesday, April 11 through Saturday, May 19, in the Patterson Art Gallery at Westminster College. The gallery is open to the public Monday-Saturday, 8 a.m.-9 p.m., and Sunday, noon-9 p.m.

"The senior exhibition is always the first time our students have the opportunity to see their work professionally displayed," said Kathy Koop, professor of art at Westminster College. "This also provides an opportunity for students' parents and friends to see the development of their work."

Christian Bauer, a son of Mr. and Mrs. Christian Bauer, 214, Pine Hill Road, Kittanning, is a graduate of Kittanning High School. His exhibits include various functional objects including handmade dishes and other ceramic pieces.

Natalie Bell, a daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Charles Bell, R.R. 2, Maple Lane, Pulaski, is a graduate of Wilmington Area High School. Her display uses collage methods to turn ordinary objects into colorful unique pieces that display her personality. She uses beads, tiles, paint, and many other mediums to create furniture that is functional in any home.

John DeRiggi, a son of Mr. and Mrs. John DeRiggi, 537 Regency Drive, Pittsburgh, is a graduate of Plum High School. DeRiggi specializes in computer animation. His exhibit demonstrates 3-D character animation, and will illustrate several steps in the process including character studies, character model sheets, animation storyboards, and 3-D rendered images.

Heather Hendrickson, a daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Steven Hendrickson, 521 Grant St., Reynoldsville, is a graduate of Central Christian High School. Her exhibition is based on the design and creation of her own line of hand-made greeting cards. She has also created business images to support her creations and promote her product.

Stephanie Higgins, a daughter of Sidney Leopardi, 1015 Second St., Beaver, is a graduate of Beaver Area High School. Her exhibition centers on a New York nightclub and lounge. The project combines the necessary public relations steps used to promote an up and coming business along with the graphic design and art skills necessary to create a logo and products within the lounge. The project also displays the interior of the lounge, used to show the atmosphere and mood, which is represented in the theme of the exhibit.

Sharri Nicholson, a daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Bill Nicholson, 611 Cleland Mill Road, New Castle, is a graduate of Mohawk Are High School. Her photography exhibit includes basic portraiture, editorial portraiture, and fashion photography. Her work shows the use of lighting and collage to portray various moods and themes in her work.

Heidi Schoch, a daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Karl Schoch, 7250 Ridge Road, Butler, is a graduate of Slippery Rock Area High School. Schoch focuses her display on ceramics because she believes that food tastes better when eaten from a handmade bowl. Her work ranges from mugs to bowls to plates of all shapes and sizes.

Diane Stead, a daughter of Patricia McDonough, 1705 Cedar Ave., is a graduate of Woodland Hills High School. Her exhibition explores a mixed media medium combining a graphic and conceptual interpretation of Herman Melville's Moby Dick.

All participants will make individual formal presentations Tuesday, May 1, at 7:30 p.m.

The event is free and open to the public. For more information, contact Koop at (724) 946-7267.
