Dr. R. Tad Greig, professor of music and director of instrumental activities at Westminster College, will discuss the success of Westminster’s Wind Ensemble at the Collegiate Band Directors National Association (CBDNA) Eastern Conference in Baltimore from Feb. 17-19.

Greig will address how the Wind Ensemble, under Greig’s direction, has maintained excellence in performance over the past 15 years. He will also discuss the ensemble’s numerous premiere performances.

The CBDNA Selection Committee selected Greig to present after reviewing his submission, a live recording of the Wind Ensemble performing “Il Maestoso,” a premiere work by composer Wendell Yupance written for Greig and Dr. Tom Leslie from the University of Nevada, Las Vegas.

The committee examined small colleges and universities with 5,000 or fewer students and chose Westminster for the quality of the composition as well as the quality of the ensemble.

Greig, who also serves as director of bands and head of music education, is an active guest conductor, clinician, lecturer and judge throughout the United States. A member of Westminster’s faculty since 1995, Greig earned an undergraduate degree from Grove City College, a master’s degree from Youngstown State University and a Ph.D. from Kent State University.
