Dr. Carolyn Cuff, professor of mathematics at Westminster College, recently participated in the grading of over 66,000 of the College Board's Advanced Placement Examinations.
"During the course of one week, approximately 390,000 questions were scored by pairs of high school statistics teachers and college professors," Cuff said. Cuff also helped to evaluate the mathematics program at Texas A&M, in Texarkana.
"I was invited by the faculty at Texas A&M to evaluate the current program that has been directed to grow downward," Cuff said. "I looked at this program in respect to its growth, an upcoming reaccredidation by the State University system, and the anticipated increase in the number of the faculty in the department. Then I gave my report to the dean."
She also attended the Joint Statistical Meetings in Toronto, where she served on joint committees of the American Statistical Association and the Mathematical Association of America.
