The Westminster College School of Nursing is hosting an open house to highlight the services of the American Red Cross on Thursday, Oct. 5 from 4-7 p.m. in the McKelvey Campus Center. This event is free and open to the public.

“For the past 100 years, the American Red Cross has been providing emergency assistance and disaster relief services for persons in our community,” says Tricia Ryan, MSN, BS, RN, CNE and director of the Westminster College School of Nursing. “As a nurse and educator, I recognize this incredible contribution and welcome the opportunity to highlight the services and volunteers that make this organization great.”

The open house is packed with interactive activities that are equally engaging and educational. Participants will have the opportunity to meet American Red Cross K9 team members, tour the sheltering trailer and learn about volunteering, Hands Only CPR and disaster preparedness.

Additionally, Dr. Carol Holland, an American Red Cross volunteer for over 10 years, will deliver two informative presentations during the event. Holland recently returned from performing relief efforts in Houston, Texas following Hurricane Harvey. In the past, Holland has been deployed to assist with disaster relief after the attacks of 9/11 and Hurricane Katrina.
