Westminster College has once again been named a 2025-2026 College of Distinction, recognized for offering a transformative undergraduate experience and its commitment to engaged, experiential education. The College also earned additional distinctions for excellence in its business, education and nursing programs.
Colleges of Distinction, a unique guide for college-bound students, has a rigorous selection process and chooses schools that adhere to four distinctions: engaged students, great teaching, vibrant community and successful outcomes. Through extensive research and interviews, Colleges of Distinction identifies institutions that make a meaningful impact on students’ lives, not just ones that fight their way to the top of rankings lists.
“Westminster College has crafted a campus culture where students are empowered to take ownership of their learning,” said Tyson Schritter, chief operating officer at Colleges of Distinction. “Its programs reflect the kind of innovation and intentionality that prepare students for life after graduation.”
Unlike traditional ranking systems based on numerical data, Colleges of Distinction highlights schools that champion educational impact. That includes everything from first-year seminars and collaborative projects to undergraduate research, global learning and internships.
Westminster’s inclusion is a result of its commitment to these high-impact practices and the personalized support it offers students throughout their college journey.
“We’ve never believed in ranking schools,” Schritter said. “Our goal is to celebrate institutions that help students find their place, their purpose and their potential. Westminster stands out for creating an environment where students thrive not just academically, but as whole people.”
Additionally, Westminster has been named a Pennsylvania College of Distinction and was cited for excellence in business, education and nursing programs.
The Business College of Distinction award is granted to schools whose undergraduate business programs balance classroom theory with real-world application, preparing students to lead with confidence, integrity and agility.
To qualify, schools must demonstrate accreditation, well-rounded curricula, applied learning experiences and a track record of successful outcomes.
“Westminster College understands that effective business education is about more than numbers, but also about nurturing innovative, ethical leaders,” said Schritter. “Through faculty mentorship, interdisciplinary coursework and immersive learning opportunities, their students are gaining the insight and experience needed to adapt in a rapidly changing landscape.”
Recognizing Westminster’s ability to graduate confident, compassionate and classroom-ready teachers, Colleges of Distinction noted the ways students are gaining the experience, knowledge and values to become impactful educators.
“In a field where the stakes are high and the landscape constantly evolving, Westminster has built a program that blends strong academic foundations with real-world practice,” said Schritter. “They’re equipping future educators with the tools and heart to lead diverse classrooms with care.”
As a Nursing College of Distinction, Westminster has proven its commitment to training compassionate, highly skilled nurses through innovative undergraduate education. This recognition highlights the school’s approach to hands-on, ethical and interdisciplinary training that equips students to excel in an ever-changing healthcare landscape.
“When it comes to training future nurses, we look for institutions that go beyond the standard curriculum,” said Schritter. “Westminster College stands out for its commitment to academic rigor, practical experience and whole-person development.”
