Grab your lawn chairs, pack a picnic basket and get ready for a star-spangled summer evening as Westminster College hosts the 34th annual family-friendly Independence Day celebration on Thursday, July 3, at Brittain Lake on Westminster’s campus.

The evening of free music, fireworks and family fun will kick off at 7:30 p.m. with the bold, brassy sounds of River City Brass Band, America’s only full-time professional brass band. Expect a festive mix of patriotic favorites and classic American tunes marches designed to set the perfect mood for Independence Day.

As twilight falls, the celebration will conclude with a dazzling fireworks display by Pyrotecnico at approximately 9:15 p.m., lighting up the sky over Brittain Lake.

The event is free and open to the public, although a free-will offering will be taken.

Because of high attendance, early arrival is recommended. Free parking is available throughout Westminster’s campus. Attendees are encouraged to bring blankets and lawn chairs for seating, as well as picnic baskets and refreshments. A variety of food vendors will also be on site.

In the event of rain, the concert will be held in the Anderson Amphitheater.
