Program Overview

Westminster's First-Year Fellows programs are an exciting way to begin college. Students accepted to this one-year program will benefit from both the opportunity to explore an interesting topic from inside and outside a classroom, and an instant community of students, faculty, and staff who share their passions.

The 2018 First-Year Fellows Program themes are Global Engagement and Civic Engagement.

Benefits of the First-Year Fellows Program

All first-year fellows programs offer a range of benefits:

  • A one-year, $1,000 scholarship.
  • Living and learning with other Fellows in the newly renovated Shaw Hall.
  • Special Fellows-only course specifically developed to explore your chosen theme.
  • Hands-on engagement in and out of the classroom.
  • Connection to resources related to your theme (on and off campus).
  • Immediate connection with some of Westminster's most outstanding faculty and staff.

Selection Process

The First-Year Fellows Program is open to any incoming first year student who has not already committed to another Westminster scholar or fellow program. The application for the First-Year fellows program will open for 2019 in October 2018.
