Dear Westminster Community:

Hopefully this finds each of you doing well.

We are writing to alert you to an important revision of the academic calendar for fall 2020 semester.  The purpose of this adjusted calendar is to prioritize the health and safety of our community by limiting the number of times the entire student body leaves and returns to campus.

Classes will begin Monday, August 17, and conclude with finals just before Thanksgiving.  There will be no fall midterm break. Fall semester classes will end Friday, Nov. 20, and final exams will take place Saturday, Nov. 21 through Wednesday, Nov. 25.

We know this announcement brings up many questions for you regarding move-in, orientation, trainings and sports seasons, marching band and more.  The College’s leadership team is actively crafting those details, policies, and changes and will communicate as quickly as we can through email, social media and the forthcoming plan for reopening webpage.

To achieve the aims of in-person instruction and the health and safety of our community, we will all be living and learning with new physical distancing and hygiene guidelines.  Together, we can create a campus environment that prioritizes health and safety while still allowing a great residential semester.

We look forward to seeing you face-to-face on August 17 and strongly urge you to remain connected to your email throughout the remainder of the summer.

Class of 2020 – You are still very much on our minds and in our planning.  As we consider reopening, we are also considering plans to safely gather for your commencement in was that comply with current guidelines.  Thank you for your patience.

Sincerely,
Jeffrey Coker, Vice President of Academic Affairs and Enrollment and Gina Vance, Vice President of Student Affairs
