NEW WILMINGTON, PA – The American Society for Biochemistry and Molecular Biology (ASBMB) recently awarded a $500 grant to Westminster College’s student ASBMB chapter to provide hands-on science learning experiences to area aspiring STEM students.

The student ASBMB chapter, in partnership with Westminster’s Science in Motion program, will begin a long-term module-based science outreach collaboration. ASBMB funding will be used to purchase necessary laboratory supplies.

The grant was written by Sarah Harris, senior biochemistry major and ASBMB student chapter president, and the club’s outreach chair Troy Holden, a junior biochemistry major. Dr. Patrick Lackey, assistant professor of chemistry, serves as adviser to the student organization.
