Westminster College’s School of Communication invites community members to its Smartphone Moviemaking Workshop on Saturday, Sept. 28, from 9 a.m. to 2 p.m. in Dietz Sullivan Hall in Hoyt Science Center.
From 9 a.m. to 2 p.m., participants will engage in a series of practical sessions led by experienced filmmakers. The workshop will cover essential topics such as movie planning, shot organization and filming techniques. Attendees are encouraged to bring their smartphones so they can learn how the use of tripods, monopods and lights can enhance the quality of their videos.
Participants can learn how to edit with CapCut or Splice apps during the optional post-production workshop and screening session from 2 to 5 p.m. The afternoon session will also provide an opportunity for screening work and receiving feedback.
Lunch is included in this workshop, as well as free T-shirts and ice cream.
The workshop, which is open to the public, is designed to complement the Titan Film Festival: The Thriller Edition, and participants are welcome to use the session to develop their original entries for the festival.
There is a registration fee of $20 dollars for adults and $10 dollars for students. The fee is waived for first-year Westminster College students and those with financial need. An adult must accompany participants under 15. Registration is required by Friday, Sept. 13.
