Students’ cinematic creations delivered the spooky for Westminster College’s 2023 Titan Terror Project—and two teams walked away winners.

The team Dr. C’s Heroes snagged the first-place win in the Newbie category for the film, “Integral,” which centered around a group of college students making a film for the Spartan Scare Project. Animosity among the group caused strange occurrences to happen.

Team members included senior strategic communication and social media majors Max Robinson from Pittsburgh and Saige Heigel from Kersey, Pa., senior creative media production major Kevin Ivany from Malden, Mass., and sophomore strategic communication and social media major Emma Hull from Lawrence, Pa.

Brittany Anne Productions won in the Repeat Offender category with the film “Trick or Terror.” Created and produced by Brittany Marburger, a junior creative media production major from Evans City, Pa., the narrative explored the eerie aftermath of Halloween night.

The Titan Terror Project is an annual competition featuring short horror films created by students and judged by audience members, Westminster faculty and College alumni. Creativity, production, use of required props and storytelling were key elements evaluated by the judges. Categories included Newbies for first-time filmmakers and Repeat Offenders for those with previous experience in filmmaking.

This year’s project asked participants to create a 2- to 5-minute film using a doll as a mandatory prop.

Nearly 60 people attended the showcase in Mueller Theater on the College’s campus. Organizers presented attendees with free T-shirts, cider and popcorn.

The Titan Terror Project is sponsored by The Holcad, Beyond the Quad Art Series, BEA@WC Student Club, Titan Radio, Westminster Cable, WCN247.com and the School of Communication.
