Westminster College welcomes three new faculty members

Westminster College extends a warm welcome to the three new faculty members for the 2022-2023 academic year.

Dr. Robert Craven, assistant professor of English. Craven received his bachelor’s degree in English from Westminster in 2013. He earned his master’s from Duquesne University and Ph.D. from the University of Oregon. He previously served as an instructor at the University of Oregon.

Craven’s areas of specialization include poetry and poetics, American literature, Appalachian studies and popular music of the early-to mid-twentieth century. These interests gained Craven two scholarly works under his name.

Dr. Timothy Grieve-Carlson, assistant professor of religion and interfaith studies. Grieve-Carlson earned an undergraduate degree in anthropology and religious student from Drew University and his master’s and Ph.D. in religious studies from Rice University.

Grieve-Carlson has multiple publications to his name including several book reviews, refereed articles and book chapters, non-refereed chapter essays, as well as three manuscripts under review.

Dr. Jenna Copper, assistant professor of secondary education and secondary education program coordinator. Copper earned her undergraduate and M.Ed. degree in English from Slippery Rock University and her Ph.D. in instruction and leadership from Robert Morris University. She taught English and was a past department chair at Wilmington Area High School in New Wilmington, Pa. She previously taught English in the Slippery Rock Area School District and was an adjunct English instructor at Robert Morris University.

Copper’s research interests include literary theory, global learning and cross-cultural communication. She has published numerous articles and also wrote the best-selling book Keeping the Wonder: An Educator’s Guide to Magical, Engaging, and Joyful Learning.
