Meet Bryce Hayes ’22

Meet Bryce Hayes, a senior Computational Physics major with a minor in Mathematics. He currently holds leadership positions in Kappa Mu Epsilon, Sigma Phi Epsilon, Math Club and the Society of Physics Students. He is also a web developer on campus.

How is your semester going so far?
My semester is going very well so far. I have 20 credits, for the second semester in a row, with a range of Math and Physics classes. Over Christmas break, I was lucky enough to complete the lengthy interview process, including seven different interviews, with a large company and I have been offered a position in their cybersecurity department. I am set to begin my employment with them in August of this year.

Which class are you looking forward to the most this semester? And why?
I am looking forward to Numerical Analysis and Computational Physics II because their topics go hand in hand. Numerical Analysis explores the intricacies of computational methods in the form of coding and mathematical techniques.

What type of events have you gone to on campus?
I've been to all the home football games for the color guard (GO BAND!) and helped the pit orchestra set up for the halftime shows. I've also attended a few fraternity events on campus.

If you had to choose one word to describe your college experience, what would it be and why?
Chaotic. I've changed my major so many times looking for the right fit and have done so many projects and certifications outside of school to find what I want to do with my life. However, I’ve also been incredibly lucky to be able to experience all of these opportunities with the support of the Physics and Computer Science Department, thanks to Dr. Caylor and Dr. Luisi.
