Cassia Crogan '15, Assistant Director of Communications and Media Relations at Carnegie Mellon University - Tepper School of Business, encourages those interested in university marketing and administration to accept all opportunities. "It is easier to say no to something that may be challenging...but you never know what kind of door conquering that obstacle may open for you in the next step," she said.

"It is a competitive field...but you need to remember that you know what you're doing, call upon the excellent base of knowledge and experience that you have garnered from Westminster, and be true to yourself and the expert that you are… Because, after all, you are a Titan."

During her time at Westminster, Crogan, a Communications Studies and Spanish major, embraced jobs, internships, and electives. At one point, she balanced a resident assistant position, two on-campus jobs, an internship, and off-campus employment. She appreciates Westminster's career development resources in the Professional Development Center, and encourages students (and alumni) to utilize them.

She gained hands-on learning, networking opportunities, and real-world education at Westminster. Hands-on learning and networking came from Dr. Keith Corso. Under Dr. Corso's instruction, she did a website audit, redesign, and client pitch for a local nonprofit organization. Crogan has used this experience in her career, as it was "pivotal to the success of the launch of the new University of Pittsburgh School of Education website" that she worked with her team to produce in her previous role.

She also values her real-world education. Through her coursework, she created a board game, presented a "Law and Order" case, and promoted a 5k run--all of which led to communication and management skills.
