The Westminster College Jazz Ensemble will perform a virtual fall concert at 3 p.m. Sunday, Nov. 15, in the Will W. Orr Auditorium on Westminster’s campus.
There will be no live audience due to campus COVID-19 protocols, but the concert can be viewed by livestream at https://youtu.be/r0DsWsJPXNE.
Under the direction of Dr. Timothy Winfield, the 17-member Jazz Ensemble will perform works by Sammy Nestico, Bob Curnow, Josef Zawinul, Duke Ellington and more.
“The students of the Jazz Ensemble always do a great job, and in this semester where they are asked to do even more, they have risen to the challenge,” said Winfield, who also serves as associate professor of music. “They have successfully navigated changes such as different ensemble configurations that make it challenging to hear one another, wearing masks during rehearsal and sanitizing music stands and chairs after rehearsal. Jazz is a very communicative artform, and to have an avenue to show our musical expression to a wider audience is wonderful.”
