The Music Performance Major is designed for the student who plans to undertake specialized study in preparation for a career as a professional performer. Students wishing to major in Music Performance are not allowed to enter the major until they petition the faculty and successfully pass an audition. This audition will be held near the end of the first semester of private lesson study. The student must exhibit exceptional musical and technical competency and possess the determination and commitment to pursue such a demanding program. The choice of repertory must reflect a level of difficulty congruent with the specialized program. The major prescribes a minimum of 96 semester hours in music courses.
