Faculty Forum Continues at Westminster College

Posted on Thursday, October 30, 2003

Dr. Phyllis Kitzerow, professor of sociology at Westminster College, will present Faculty Forum Wednesday, Nov. 12, at 11:30 a.m. in the McKelvey Campus Center Theater.

Her topic, "Teaching: You Gave Him What" is a role playing exercise with the faculty, which aims to improve grading.

"We will be examining our assumptions about what is worth how much credit," Kitzerow said. "We will be examining our assumptions about what is worth and how much credit. As a participant in this exercise at the Lilly Conference on Teaching, I was surprised to see how much assumptions differed, thus calling into question how objective our grading really is."

Kitzerow, who has been with Westminster College since 1978, earned her undergraduate degree from the University of Wisconsin, and her master's and Ph.D. from the University of Pittsburgh.

Faculty forum, established in 1990, serves as a venue for the exchange of ideas and information among Westminster College faculty. Speakers present their research, teaching ideas, lectures, performances, special programs, and uses of technology to keep faculty informed about the work of colleagues from many disciplines.
