The Westminster College Drinko Center for Excellence in Teaching and Learning is hosting "Best Administrative Practice Series: Optimizing the Use of the School Counseling Program for Academic Success" Tuesday, Feb. 28, from 9 a.m.-2:30 p.m. in the Witherspoon Rooms of the McKelvey Campus Center.

"This program is for principals and superintendents who wish to learn how an effective school counseling program can positively impact the academic achievement of students," said Dr. William Evans, associate professor of education at Westminster College.  "They will present program opportunities to make school counselors a more significant part of the successful mission of schools.  School counselors may attend free if accompanied by an administrator from their district."

This seminar features Dr. Judy Bowers, who supervises the 170 K-12 school counselors that serve 61,000 students in the Tucson (Ariz.) Unified School District.  She is also the immediate past president of the American School Counselor Association.  Christopher Laudo, a 12-year school counselor veteran for the Pequea Valley School District in Lancaster and current president of the Pennsylvania School Counselor Association, will also speak.

The Drinko Center for Excellence in Teaching and Learning was developed to advance world-class teaching at Westminster and enrich K-12 education through outreach programs for area educators
