The Westminster College combined choirs will present the Fauré Requiem Saturday, Feb. 14, and Sunday, Feb. 15.  The concerts are free and open to the public.

Saturday's 4 p.m. performance will be held at First Presbyterian Church of Sharon.  Sunday's 7 p.m. special Vespers service will take place in Westminster's Wallace Memorial Chapel with a reception to follow.

"Gabriel Fauré's Requiem is one of the most finely crafted and beautiful compositions in the choral repertoire," said Dr. Sam Barbara, Westminster assistant professor of music and director of the choirs.  "Our lives have been greatly enriched through the study and performance of this work and we are excited to invite the community to share in our process."

The program will include additional music by Morten Lauridsen, Orlando di Lasso and Healey Willan.  The choirs will be accompanied by Westminster's Chamber Orchestra and Westminster organist Kathryn Miller.

Barbara, who joined the Westminster faculty in August, earned undergraduate and master's degrees from the University of Portland and a D.M.A. from the University of Southern California.
