Westminster College Earth Week Activities Announced

NEW WILMINGTON, Pa. - Westminster College's Earth Week celebration will include activities through the end of April. All events listed are free and open to the community.

Highlights include:

Now through April 14
Go Confidently! Handbag Collection - Collection boxes located outside Student Affairs and Old Main. Organized by Kappa Delta for the Crisis Shelter of Lawrence County.     

Now through April 26
Get Down to Earth Image of the Month Contest ­- Submit your environment-themed digital photo. Sponsored by Environmental Programs and Audio Visual Services.

April 12                       
E-Recycling Drive - 9 a.m.- noon at the Hoyt Science Center Loading Dock. For a list of recyclable materials view www.westminster.edu/greenav. Organized by Audio Visual Services.

April 16                       
Presentation on Community Impacts of Marcellus Shale Development - At 11:30 a.m. in Witherspoon Room in MCC. Speaker Kathryn Braiser, associate professor of rural sociology in the Department of Agricultural Economics, Sociology, and Education at Penn State University. Sponsored by Alpha Kappa Delta, Department of Sociology and Criminal Justice Studies, and Sociology-Criminal Justice Studies-Interest-Opportunities-News (SCION).

April 23
Earth Day Outdoor Worship
- At 11:40 a.m. on the Quad in front of Senior Terrace. Sponsored by the Office of Faith and Spirituality.

April 26                     
Chipping Party
- 9 a.m.-12 p.m. at the Field Station. Organized by the Field Station.

April 26
Lawrence County Earth Day 2014
- Join members of Westminster College's Environmental Programs as they celebrate Earth Week with the city of New Castle; Downtown New Castle from 2-6 p.m.; Hosted by New Visions for Lawrence County. 

April 29
Environmental Programs Lunch Seminar: "Making Recycled Paper"
- From 12:45-1:30 p.m. at the Hoyt Science Center, Room 351 (Chemistry Lab). Sponsored by Environmental Programs; Hosted by student Erin Sullivan.
