The Westminster College Men's and Women's Choirs will perform a joint spring choral concert Sunday, April 17, at 3 p.m. in Wallace Memorial Chapel.

The Men's Chorus is under the direction of Dr. Robin Lind with the accompany piano music by Katherine Menhorn, and the Women's Chorus is under the direction of Kris Harper, accompanied by pianist Katie Schultz.

"The men will sing a wide variety of music from the beautiful Afro-American spiritual "Were You There?" to the delightful English Sea shanty "What Shall We do with the Drunken Sailor," which was arranged by Robert Shaw," Lind said.  "The men will also perform the "Sanctus" from St. Cecilia Mass by Charles Gounod, featuring William McCullough as the soloist, and the rousing "Punschlied," the Drinking Song, by Beethoven.  They will also be performing the famous American hymn, "How Can I Keep from Singing" and a beautiful cappella arrangement of the "Lord's Prayer" by Keith Christopher."

The women's portion of the program include the traditional Irish arrangement of "Danny Boy," words from Shakespeare in "Three Birthday Madrigals," a traditional spiritual "I've Been Buked Children," and Kodaly's "'Mid the Oak Trees."  The Women's Chamber Ensemble will perform "Arise My Love," with text from the "Song of Solomon" and Choplin's "Heaven's Song."

The concert is free and open to the public.  For more information, contact Lind at (724) 946-7278 or e-mail lindra@westminster.edu or Harper at (724) 946-7276 or e-mail harperk@westminster.edu.
