Westminster College's Sodexo Dining Services will host global chef Joaquin Suarez Oct. 28-29.

Suarez, who is the national director of culinary training for Sodexo Colombia and executive chef of Sodexo's Global Chef Program, will supervise the preparation of a Colombian buffet Thursday, Oct. 28, serving from 5-7:30 p.m. in McGinness Dining Room. Specialties on the menu include: grilled chicken in a passion fruit marination, grilled pork in a guava barbecue sauce, yucca chips, baked plantain filled with guava and cheese, and lemon temptation.

The dinner is available to the public for a fee. Groups of eight or more should contact Jeff Creveling, director of Westminster's Sodexo Dining Services, to make reservations.

Suarez will demonstrate the preparation of a traditional dessert, bananas flambé in chocolate sauce with vanilla ice cream, Friday, Oct. 29, from 11 a.m.-12:30 p.m.

Suarez is a classically trained chef who studied at the Culinary Institute of America in Hyde Park, N.Y. His cuisine and culture exchanges have taken him to a variety of locations where he has participated in activities that include an "Iron Chef" competition and a nutrition and wellness symposium.
