Music Majors Received Drinko Grant to Attend Workshop

Four Westminster College music majors received a travel/presentation grant from Westminster's Drinko Center for Excellence in Teaching and Learning to attend a horn and tuba workshop Oct. 20-21 in Canton, Ohio.

The students, who study with Westminster adjunct music faculty Robert Cole, were:

Sarah Ortz, a junior music education major, is a daughter of William and Connie Ortz of Petersburg, Ohio, and a graduate of Springfield Local High School.

Jillian Rhen, a sophomore music education major, is a daughter of J. Steven and Jacqueline Rhen of Edinboro and a graduate of General McLane High School.

Victoria Walker, a sophomore music education major, is a daughter of James and Linda Walker of Worthington and a graduate of Kittanning High School.

Christin Zolkiewicz, a senior music performance major, is a daughter of Samuel and Leslieann Harris of Monaca and a graduate of Center High School.

The Drinko Center for Excellence in Teaching and Learning was created to enrich undergraduate education at Westminster through advancing world-class teaching as well as by participating in collaborations that address community and regional needs including strengthening K-12 education. The Undergraduate Research Initiative provides funding for students to conduct research and to present their research at regional and national conferences.
